| What makes a good blog? I just signed up to Blogger and am thinking of what to begin blogging with. Will an introduction page seem a bit wannabe -ish? I don't know what niche I can fill, but isn't a blog supposed to be about personal views, opinions, interests etc., which attract other people with the same interests? |

An introductory post is generally acceptable. An introductory page? Eeeeh. I'm not even sure if you can have a static page as your 'home' address in Blogger so I'd prefer to stay away from it.In the time i've spent blogging I've been more concerned with page layout and clarity than concern over content. Three collums or two? Since i'd figured out Blogger has static pages for 'about' 'links' and such I've swapped to a single left hand panel and pared down on what's there to keep focus on the posts themselves. Of course what works for me might not work for you, and I've only had a few hundred visitors since I've started. What is your Blog's aim? Is it purely personal? Business related? If it's personal you are your own judge on how things work and if the look is right. If it's business... bit trickier but since blogging is very individualistic you're still largely your own best judge on what looks appropriate and what doesn't. The inclusion of an inbuilt stat tracker is an immense help in deciding which posts got the most traffic and if a recent change (either to layout or Google's search methods) have caused a sudden dip or spike in activity. Play around with things. The bloggosphere doens't bite.... well not unless you're a corporate schill trying to fake something. |

| Hi there! I think the best thing that you have to bear in mind as a blogger is that, you have to keep your blogs interesting all the time. You can also be creative in writing your blogs. | Blogging can be whatever you want; social commentary, sports views, your ideas on what would be a good flavour of bean, anything. However, one thing you should do is write about something you know reasonably well and enjoy. If you're witing just for traffic, chances are it won't work as you might not want to carry through with the amount of blogging needed to get the traffic you want because you don't like the topic. |

The one thing that I think makes a good blog is a page that has useful or captivating information. Also, I would say that you want your blog page to load fast. You don't want to fill your blog with so many ads and graphics that it takes away from the true art of the blog itself. |

I think appearance is the first thing that people look for to determine if they would be interested in what you have to write. Try not to be too flashy and complicated but keep it simple and attractive. Also make what you have to offer clear i.e. clear headings so it catches peoples eye. Good luck!
